October Favourites

It's that old cliche again but hasn't time flown, it's the last day of October (happy Halloween) and I feel like the month only just started! October has been a busy, fun and stressful month for me, I turned a year older, I celebrated my nan turning 70 and I had change at work to adapt to - I'm not the best at dealing with change. Here are my favourites from the past month!

Everybody needs a Phil Dunphy in their life and I've been getting mine by watching a ton of Modern Family. My sister bought me seasons 1-6 for my birthday and I've not stopped watching it,  I'd seen the first two seasons or so of it and loved it but then missed the rest. I'd recommend Modern Family to everyone it's really funny and often has touching moments, you can watch it time and time again.

I bought this bag in September from Accessorize for £25 to go with a pair of boots and it's fast become my daily handbag. I like that it's big enough to hold all my crap but it still has that slouchy look, I'm normally a black bag person but this goes with everything. I'm glad I stepped outside my comfort zone and bought it.

I blooming love these biscuits! I haven't had them in ages and then I saw them in ASDA and had to have them, I only ever buy the white chocolate ones as they are my favourite and I might be guilty of eating the whole packet in about a day but their just so good.

I'm nearly at the end of my Lush Roots Hair Treatment because I've been using it so much, I love using it to give my hair a bit more oomph! This 20 minuet hair treatment leaves my hair feeling healthy, nourished plus it fills the bathroom with a lovely fruity/minty smell.

This month I've been super stressed and it's played havoc with my skin so I've been mixing up my skincare in the hope of saving my skin. I've spoke about the Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion from The Body Shop before on my blog because I really like it, this helps reduce redness and fight blemishes. The lotion is light weight and dries matte so your skin doesn't feel covered in product, it tingles slightly when you apply it and feels cooling on your face. When ever I use this I see a difference in my skin with blemishes less red and starting to fade.

Those are my October favourites, I hope you've had a great month. What have you been loving?

Coconut Oil Is It Worth The Hype?

2015 has been coconut oils year, it's really having a moment. From beauty gurus to health nuts everybody seems to swear by coconut oil for its multitude of uses, of course I was intrigued and decided to give it a try. I got a big jar of Vita Coco coconut oil from Boots for £9.99 and started to try it out, the coconut oil is solid but soon melts into your hand and is easy to use. I was mostly intrigued by all the beauty claims I'd heard about coconut oil so I soon got to work testing it out.

I first used it to remove my makeup and was good, it melted away all my makeup even waterproof mascara without leaving my skin feeling oily, I also used the coconut oil as a body moisturiser and I was really surprised by how good my skin felt after using it. I used it all over my body and it sinks in fast leaving no oily residue or film and my skin still felt moisturised the next day, I've got sensitive skin and it didn't irritate my skin at all however I wouldn't use it on broken skin -the oil is also good for shaving instead of a shaving cream/gel. The coconut oil doesn't have a strong smell so is great for those who don't like heavily scented skincare. The coconut oil is also good as a lip balm and hair mask, it really does have a lot of uses and I think that it's great value for money as it lasts a long time, I can see why it gets all this hype!

Life Lately...

I've finally found a moment to sit down and write this post, I'd say sit down in peace but I've got the cat leaning into me trying to creep in for cuddles! If your a regular reader or a follow of my blog - thank you!- you'll have probably noticed I've been a bit MIA recently and my posts haven't been as frequent as normal actually they've been non-existent the last couple of weeks.

October has been a busy month, I turned 24, my nan turned 70 and I've been really busy and stressed with work mix that with a broken laptop and there's been no time to squeeze in blogging. I'll be honest even if there was I haven't been in the mood - lets just say I don't deal with stress well. I'm not making excuses for myself or going to apologise for not being in the mood to blog because you probably don't want to hear it and that's just life I don't want to dwell on it! I didn't want to rush and publish half arsed posts for you guys to read but I now have a new laptop (YAY) and I'm in a better mood so I'm ready to start posting again.

In fact my first post is tomorrow and it's all about coconut oil, I'll hopefully get my October favourites up then get back to posting more frequently. I just want to say thanks for sticking with my blog while it's been a little quiet.

Concealer Wars

This  year I've really gotten into using concealers more

This year I've really started to get into using concealers more, before it was a step in my makeup routine that I wasn't overly bothered about but now its a step I won't skip. I've been trying out my fair share of concealers recently and thought why not dedicate a whole post to them and let you lovely lot know how I got on with them. Ok so the title concealer wars might have been a tad extreme but you get the idea.

Lastly is Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19 and it's the one! This has to be my all time favourite concealer and a stand out in drugstore concealers, I've used this since forever and I always repurchase it when I can because my shade (fair 1) is always sold out. The concealer is creamy, long wearing and great for covering up blemishes and eye bags.

Urban Decay B6 Vitmamin-Infused Prep Spray

I've been using the Urban Decay Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray for a little over a month now after buying it on a whim, at £22 it's not exactly cheap but it has pretty bold claims to reduce redness, minimize pores and absorb oil. You can use the spray morning and night to before you apply your moisturizer or makeup and you can use it to refresh throughout the day, it's one of those products that you wouldn't think of needing but when you start using it you find yourself reaching for it more and more. I use this day and night, before my moisturiser and makeup in the morning and then before my night time moisturiser.

The spray goes on evenly and feels non-existent on the skin you don't have to wait around for it to dry either as it dries really fast and it leaves my skin feeling nice. I can't say that it minimizes pores but it has helped me with the redness of my blemishes and it keeps my makeup looking better for longer, this paired with the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray is the dream team. I can't put my finger on exactly why I like this product but I do, it's not an essential but it's fast become part of my daily routine.

LUSH Roots Hair Treatment

You might remember at the start of the month I shared a Lush haul with you all - you can read that post here - and in the haul I picked up the Roots Hair Treatment. I am a sucker for anything that claims to give you thicker, fuller hair as even after 23 years on this planet I've still not grown to love my fine hair. The hair mask is thick and creamy with a strong fruity/minty smell and claims to stimulate the scalp and hair follicles as well as conditioning and strengthening your hair, it contains mint, honey, extra virgin olive oil and balancing nettle. You apply the mask to dry hair massaging it into your scalp and roots then working it down your hair and leave it on for about 20 minutes before washing it off, the mask feels really cooling and refreshing it evens tingles.

After 20 minuets I hop in the shower wash the mask off then shampoo and condition as normal, the mask leaves my hair feeling soft, clean and nourished. My hair does feel thicker but that doesn't really last longer than a day, I've only used the mask a handful of times so maybe with more use it will have more of a long term effect. After using this mask my hair feels so much healthier which I love and I will keep using this mask to give my hair some TLC.
