February Favourites

After pigging out on a hell of a lot of pizza at the end of January I decided that I was going to eat a bit better in February but one thing I haven't been able to resist this month has been Nutella. Nutella on pancakes, Nutella on its own it's been all about Nutella and it seems my cat likes it too. Maybe I'll eat better in March!

Also this month I've been hooked on Eastenders! How gripping has it been? I was so into the who killed Lucy storyline and I loved live week it really kept you guessing and completely drawn in. I loved that they also did a flashback episode of the night Lucy was killed. The cast did an absolutely fantastic job all week but especially on Fridays all live episode where the whole Beale family gave brilliant performances without a glitch and I thought Adam Woodyatt was excellent giving a heart wrenching performance of as the grieving angry buy loving father of the family.

This blush hasn't left my make-up bag since I bought it a few weeks ago, I mean just look at it BE-AU-TIFUL. This blush is from Max Factors Crème Puff Blush range and the shade I have is alluring rose. I love the marble look of this blush and it gives a natural bronzy coral finish with a hint of shimmer. You can read my full post on this blush here.

I've fallen back in love with this foundation from Max Factor this month, the Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation what is it with beauty products and their long names. I recently found this foundation in my beauty stash and remembered why I use to love it so much, it gives a flawless finish as the name suggests and is long lasting. One or two pumps blends effortlessly over the face and gives a matte finish that feels weightless on the skin.

There we have it my February favourites, there's not a lot in this months favourites. I feel like this month has just flown by. What have you been loving this month?

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 Hours Eye Shadow

I mentioned back in my Beauty Binge post that I got these Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo Eye Shadows and I said I would do a post on them, well here it is. These little pots of cream/gel eye shadow pack a punch and are well worth the £4.99 price tag, Maybelline offer a wide range of shades in them so there's bound to be one out there to suit everyone. I picked up two fairly neutral and wearable shades Creamy Beige and Permanent Taupe. Creamy Beige is part of the leather effect range and looks darker in the pot than I expected, it's a light natural brown with a satin finish not completely matte but with no obvious shimmer but it's a great colour for everyday and for a base. Permanent Taupe is cool toned matte brown with a hint of grey to it.

You can apply them with your finger or with a brush, I like to do both starting with my finger and then using a brush for the finishing touches to really blend it in. The colour payoff is great and both colours can be build up to create a stronger look. I've not worn them for 24 hours and I probably never will but they do last really well, no creasing or flaky looking eye shadow half way through the day and it stays firmly put on your eyelid and doesn't slide off.

I had one of these pots ages ago but seem to have misplaced it, I never bothered to repurchase until a couple of weeks ago and I'm glad I did. These are going to come in really handy for making doing my eye make-up quick with minimal effort. For £4.99 I think they are great value for money, great long lasting quality eye shadows for under a fiver yes please!

Benefit Roller Lash

I picked up Elle magazine a week or so ago and inside you got a sample of the Benefit Roller Lash, being the makeup lover I am I didn't grudge paying the £4 cost of the magazine to get my hands on Benefits eagerly awaited new mascara. You're probably sick of seeing all about Benefits new Roller Lash because it's been everywhere but I'm gonna throw in my two pence on Benefits new mascara.

First of the packaging is so cute, pink and black looking very chic -the sample packaging is different from the full sized packaging. Benefit Roller Lash is based on hair rollers and it's main aim is to give your lashes a lift and a lot of curl, the hook n roll brush is how the magic happens. The brush is designed with tiny little hooks that grab the lashes right from the root to lift and curl them up. I found this mascara separated and curled my lashes beautifully while also giving me more length, the one thing it lacks though is volume and that's what I crave most from a mascara. Volume and length are what I want from a mascara and while this delivers a lot of length it lacks volume however this is still a really good mascara from Benefit that I think most beauty lovers and going to lap up.

Overall this is a good mascara and I'll continue to use it, I'm not sure if I'll splurge out on the full sized version when it becomes available, I certainly won't be rushing to the stands to buy it simply because it lacks volume however I don't see the hype on this one dying down soon and I think Benefit lovers might even love this more than the they're real mascara.

Beautiful Blush

Max Factor recently released a range of Crème Puff Blushers in 6 shades now I'm not really a blush person, I have a few but I rarely reach for them, that was until I saw this beauty. It caught my eye because of it's gorgeous swirly marbled look, the shade I got is Alluring Rose which is a gorgeous natural looking bronzy coral shade with a hint of shimmer. I was drawn to the colour straight away because it looked natural and I've used it everyday since I purchased it.

Because the blush is multi-tonal it really gives a natural look and the hint of shimmer acts as a highlighter and it really illuminating to give you a healthy glow. I use my cheek brush from my Real Techniques Nic's Picks set to sweep and blend the blush over my cheeks to give them a flush of colour. I would use a light hand when using this blush because they are highly pigmented and it's easier to build up colour than try and calm it down. As they are called crème puff blush I was expecting a creamy formula but the it's actually a baked soft smooth powder.

I am loving this blush and so glad I bought it. I'll be using this a lot especially in the summer when I can up the bronze for more of a sun kissed look. I am so impressed with this blush I would consider buying more from the range, it's converted me to loving blush.

5 Things I'm Loving Right Now #3

It's been ages since I last did a 5 things I'm loving right now, I think the last time I did one was last summer so it's long over due. Todays 5 thing I'm loving right now is very beauty product heavy with a sweet treat thrown it. Lets get right to it..

First thing is this Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick £7.99 in the shade 04 Rose Tweed, the Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipsticks are divided into three categories; preppy, colour block and night out, Rose Tweed is part of the preppy range. This lipstick is a gorgeous elegant looking pink while still looking natural. The formal is great it's hydrating with just a hint of gloss, it applies evenly and with a creamy consistency.

Next up is the Maxfactor Facefinity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation £11.99 what a long name I've gone back to using this foundation after forgetting about it for a while and the minuet I applied it I remember why I loved it so much, it's just so good. It's a 3 in 1 foundation it primes, concealers and acts as a foundation all for £11.99, it's matte but not drying and contains SPF20 winner! It gives a flawless finish that is long lasting.

Ahh now for a sweet treat, how good are these! There's not much I can say about them rather than they are awesome chocolately wafer goodness. YUM

This mini Perversion mascara has not left my make-up bag since I got it in my Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette. The Urban Decay Perversion Mascara claims to give you bigger, blacker and badder lashes and I agree, it gives lashings of volume (see what I did there) and adds lots of length I love it.

Lastly in the 5 things I'm loving right now is this Shampoo and Conditioner, I suppose this is really the 6 things I'm loving right now but it doesn't really have the same ring to it. This Pantene Pro-V Breakage Defence Shampoo and Conditioner £4.19 each aims to strengthen your hair against styling damage from the root to tip for up to 97% less hair breakage. This shampoo and conditioner leave my hair looking healthier and feeling nourished plus it smells great too.

There we have it the 5 things I'm loving right now. Have you used any of them? What are you loving right now.

Beauty Binge

I recently went on a little beauty binge in Superdrug picking up a few lip products, eye products and one beautiful blush. I'll probably review them all in their own post but for today I thought I'd share with you my first thoughts on these products.

First up I couldn't resist this stunning blush from Maxfactor it's part of their new crème puff blush range £8.99 and I got the shade alluring rose. I'm going to do a post dedicated to this blush soon so look out for that but for now let me tell you that it is beautiful.

From Bourjois I picked up two lip products and an eyeshadow. I'm a fan on the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks £8.99 so I picked up the shade peach club which is a gorgeous orange. I also picked up one of their Rouge Edition Lipsticks £7.99 in shade 03 peche cosy which is a lovely light coral peachy shade. I also bought an eye shadow I got the Little Round Pot Eye Shadow £6.99 in the shade 05 which is a gorgeous pearly pale pink shade perfect for highlighting the inner corners of my eyes and brown bone, actually it might look nice over my cheekbones too!

Lastly I stopped by the Maybelline stand and got two of the Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eye Shadows, I got creamy beige - part of the leather effect range - and I also got Permanent Taupe. Both the shades are extremely wearable and buildable, I can see me getting a lot of use out of these. I'll do a blog post on them soon when I've had more use out of them.

Remember you can follow me on Bloglovin', if you don't already, to stay up to date with all my posts.

Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray

I've had the Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray in my collection for a while now but never really got round to using it but over the last few months I've went a bit wild and used it a lot and I'm head over heels for it. I've mentioned on my blog before that my hair is fine and lifeless leaving me craving volume and this texturizing spray does everything I want.

I give the can a good shake then spray in on to my hair and use my fingers to work it in and mess up my hair, it instantly gives me bigger hair. Whether I'm using it to give my straight hair a bit more oomph or to add more volume and bounce to my hair when it's curled or just fancy that messy bed head look it works an absolute treat. The smell of this spray isn't overpowering and the spray doesn't leave your hair feeling sticky like some others nor does it leave my hair feeling stiff like some hairsprays can. It's completely undetectable too with is great none of that grey I've just used dry shampoo look. My only little gripe would be that the next day my hair can sometimes feel like it desperately needs a wash but that all depends how much I use.

Overall I am loving this product and it's well worth a try if you crave volume and that messy texturized look - that's most of us isn't it?. Believe the hype around this product it deserves it!

Superdrug Vitamin E Skin Care

Hello again! Today I'm going to share my thoughts on some of Superdrug's Vitamin E Skin care products, I've used the Vitamin E Hot Cloth cleanser for around a year or so now and I still love it so I decided to branch out and try a few more products. Having sensitive skin makes me a bit anxious trying out new products, especially own brand products, because I don't know how it will react with my skin.

Right I'll start by telling you all about the Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser £4.99 it's a creamy cleanser that is high in antioxidants. You just work the thick creamy cleanser all over your face and it melts away makeup and dirt, even that pesky mascara will crumble away and then you just wash it off with the muslin cloth you get with it. Yes not only do you get 200ml of the cleanser you also get a muslin cloth for £4.99 FOUR POUNDS AND NINETY NINE PENCE what a bargain! You can use this daily which I sometimes do but I always feel it benefits me more when my skin is dry because it's just so nourishing and leaves my skin clean, soft and supple without leaving it feel stripped. I think you get it now, I'm a big fan!

Superdrug Vitamin E Moisture Boost Facial Serum £3.99 feels a bit like a gel, it fastly absorbs into the skin doing exactly what it says, gives your face a moisture boost. It's great for when your skin feels dry and dehydrated, it can be used in the morning or overnight I find that if I use it overnight my skin looks a little plumper in the morning. Superdrug Vitamin E Skin Oil now I can't find this online to link it but I found it in my local Superdrug and if my memory serves me well it was £2.99. This skin oil is fast absorbing, non greasy and lightweight plus it can be used all over the body.

Overall I think the Superdrug Vitamin E range is great value for money and a great budget buy! This range would really suit people with dry skin because it's so moisturising without being greasy or oily, it would be fine for combination skin too. Superdrugs Vitamin E range is currently on buy 1 get 1 half price.
(the range was on offer at the time of publishing)

Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick

2014 saw a lot of hype for these Bourjois lipsticks but I never bother to but them as I've got lipsticks and lip crayons a plenty but I've recently tried them as my sister let me try hers. These Bourjois lipsticks are lightweight and non drying with a long lasting matte finish and I've been seriously impressed when I've worn them. The three colour I've used are Nude-ist!, Red Pepper and Grand Cru. Nude-ist! is a pinky nude, Red Pepper is a bright vibrant red and Grand Cru is a deep burgundy vampy looking red.

These lipsticks work like magic the formula looks creamy on the applicator and you apply it like a lipgloss at first it's wet on your lips then in seconds you're left with a matte finish and a velvety feel on your lips and the colour payoff is excellent especially on the bolder shades. Once it's set it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything on my lips you don't get that heavy drying feeling you get with some matte lipsticks. I've worn them a fair few times and was impressed with how well they last when I've been out for lunch, shopping and drinks. I wore the shade Rep Pepper on a night out and it stuck to my lips all night, even after removing my makeup and washing my face my lips were still stained the next morning - now that's staying power!

These are the best liquid lipsticks I've used, well done Bourjois. Have you used the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks yet? What's your favourite colour?

Things I'd Tell My Younger Self

I by no means class myself as a grown up despite being *gulp* 23, I feel like I'm at the in between stage defiantly too old to be classed as a teenager but not having enough responsibilities to be an adult, is 23 too old to be classed as a young adult? I decided to sit down and write about what I'd tell my younger self.
  • Don't dye your hair that colour you'll regret it oh and don't cut your nice long hair to above your shoulders either you'll regret that too!
  • Not everyone will like you and you won't like everyone, that's ok.
  • Those cringey bebo photos will haunt you. DON'T DO IT!
  • Be yourself it's ok, you don't have to change to fit in or be liked - those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.
  • Take school a bit more serious it matters more than you realise.
  • Don't rush to grow up, stay young and make the most of it because trust me growing up and being a grown up isn't what it's cracked up to be.
  • Be a bit braver and try to get over your fears, they stop you doing so much.
What would you tell your younger self?

W7 In The Buff

Is this the best budget eye shadow palette ever? The W7 In The Buff Natural Nude Eye Colour Palette is a very pocket pleasing at under £6, it's filled with 12 neutral eye shadows that come house in a tin. The palette and the shades bares a resemblance to the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, I can't compare them as I don't own the UD Naked 2 palette but 12 gorgeous neutral eye shadows shades for under £6 I'm sold. Now the packaging does the job but is nothing to write home about and the brush that comes with it, well let's not mention that but dig into your own brush collection and get to work and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

The shades in the palette are a mix of matte and shimmer, 3 matte shades and 9 shimmers. I was really impressed with the colour pay off I'll be honest my expectations weren't that high because of the price but it's rather impressive. Their mattes are a little chalky and there's some fall out but when applied and blended they look great and they staying power is good, I found the shimmers have less fall out and the staying power is just as good. This is not bad at all for a budget palette and if you're not really an eye shadow lover and are looking to get into doing eye shadow then this is a great place to start. It won't break the bank and it does the job! I'm sure it retails at around £5/6 but at the moment it's on offer for £3.99, click the line for more details.
